Meet the Owners of TeamUp Therapy
Ashley Moates, M.S., CCC-SLP
Co-Founder & Clinical Director
Ashley is a speech-language pathologist with a deep commitment to helping children find their voice and supporting families in meaningful, practical ways. Her passion for family-centered pediatric care has been at the heart of her journey from the very beginning, and it is what first led her into the field. Inspired by her youngest sister, Anna, who has Down syndrome, Ashley saw firsthand the difference that supportive caregivers and dedicated therapists can make in a child’s life. She achieved her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Auburn University, then went on to earn her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology.
Before co-founding TeamUp Therapy, Ashley worked in a multidisciplinary pediatric practice. There, she saw how collaboration between therapists and caregivers could shape a child’s progress not only in the therapy room, but also at home, in school, and throughout daily life. She brings that same collaborative spirit into every part of TeamUp Therapy, along with a strong belief that caregivers are the most important partners in the therapy process.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys walking, reading, and playing pickleball. She is actively involved in her church community at Christ Covenant in Atlanta, where she serves in the special needs ministry and participates in a small group. She loves connecting with families, encouraging them, and helping them feel supported throughout their therapy journey.
Chris Moates, MBA
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Chris brings a background in healthcare strategy, nonprofit leadership, and organizational development to TeamUp Therapy. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and began his career in healthcare consulting at PwC in Dallas, where he learned the operational and systematic challenges facing families seeking pediatric services. He later served in corporate development at Make-A-Wish Georgia, where he gained deep insight into the needs and barriers families face when navigating care.
Driven to make a larger impact, Chris pursued his Master of Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and focused on how to build and scale mission-driven healthcare organizations. During this time, he and Ashley began discussing how virtual care could expand access to pediatric therapy across Georgia, especially in rural and limited-access areas. Those conversations ultimately became the foundation of TeamUp Therapy.
Chris lives in Atlanta with his wife, McKenzie, and enjoys trail running, ultimate frisbee, pickleball, and serving in his church community at Brookhaven Presbyterian Church. He cares deeply about building systems that help families get the support they need quickly, compassionately, and without unnecessary barriers.
Our #TeamUp story began with #TeamAnna
Our youngest sister, Anna, has Down syndrome. Since the day she was born, she has been surrounded by a loving support system that has continued to grow in each stage of her journey. One day when our Mom was feeling particularly grateful for all the caregivers in Anna’s life, she referred to our special crew of advocates as “Team Anna” – and the name stuck.
Team Anna includes her parents, siblings, extended family, therapists, friends, and her broader communities. They have championed her every step of the way, from therapy sessions to horseback riding lessons, and from Auburn’s EAGLES program to succeeding in a part-time job at a coffee shop. Anna has experienced the joy of being surrounded by a team who loves and supports her, and celebrates her every victory.
We are intimately familiar with the journey of walking through life with a loved one who has an intellectual disability. There are certainly challenges, but there are also countless joys and victories to be celebrated. Growing up with Anna had a lasting impact on us, and her determination and grit is what inspires us to do what we do every day. Her experience taught us that when rockstar therapists and committed parents team up, the sky’s the limit.
It would be an absolute honor to become the newest member of your child’s team! Every child deserves their own version of Team Anna, and it is our JOY to #TeamUp with you and your child to make it happen! –Ashley & Chris
