Why did you decide to become an SLP? I have always enjoyed teaching – even as a child, I “taught” my dolls. As I got older, I realized I really liked teaching one on one or in small groups vs. a whole class. After high school, I went on a mission trip during which we stayed at a school for the deaf. Though only minimally exposed, I was intrigued by communicating in sign language. Once in college, I was also very interested in psychology – thoughts, feelings, behaviors. I had the opportunity to observe an SLP in a school setting as I was further exploring majors, and this piqued my interest in the field. Through ALL of this, I LOVE to develop relationships with people of all ages. Now, look at me! 26 years later and I’m thriving in a field where I can combine the science and art of communication with a very real sense of what makes children and families who they are.

What is your SLP superpower? My SLP superpower is I AM THE TOY! By nature, I am animated, full of expression and crazy facial expressions, engaging, and fun. No matter what the source of play, I always try to be the most exciting thing in the room!

What do you like to do for fun? I love spending time with my husband and our Husky, going for runs with friends, decorating, and eating CHOCOLATE!

What do you love about TeamUp Therapy? I am excited to have the opportunity to walk hand in hand with families as equal members of our team working together to achieve communication success. Collaboration is key!
