• Why did you decide to become an SLP? I’ve always had a passion for working with children, and initially, I thought teaching would be the path for me. But during college, I realized I didn’t want to be in a classroom setting. I much preferred working with kids one-on-one or in small groups. That’s when I decided to take an intro to Communication Sciences and Disorders course, and I immediately fell in love with the field. I ended up pursuing it as a minor, and from there, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to go to grad school for speech-language pathology. I started shadowing SLPs, and the rest, as they say, is history!

  • What is your SLP superpower? My SLP superpower is building strong, trusting relationships with the families I serve. I believe that establishing rapport and creating a safe, supportive environment is essential for helping both children and their parents or caregivers feel confident and empowered throughout the therapy journey. This allows me to not only meet the child’s communication needs but also support the family in being active participants in the process.

  • What do you like to do for fun? I love spending time with family and friends, running, reading and going to the beach (or reading at the beach!)

  • What do you love about TeamUp Therapy? What I love most about TeamUp is the emphasis on empowering families, which is one of the core values. This truly resonates with me because I believe collaborating with families and making them active participants in the therapeutic process is essential for a child’s success. I also love the flexibility that TeamUp offers, both for patients and therapists.
